DESCRIPTION:
 
    The harness provides an effective method to couple optical fiber to an illuminator. Harnesses are custom built at the factory, based on quantity, size and length of fibers. Simply insert the harness into the illuminator and tighten the Phillips-head screw. Trimming and splice connections of fibers are easily done in the field. Use the AR-HARN with all PH and Encore Series Illuminator applications, including large core twinkle wheels applications.

To fit one type of LUMENYTE® optical fiber into a harness, refer to the chart below for the recommended maximum and physical maximum number of fiber optics:

General Guidelines:
  1. Recommended maximum quantities of fibers (60-70% of Maximum) will produce more uniform results than physical maximum.
  2. Six inches (152mm) of optical fiber is used within the harness entering into the illuminator. Always order optical fiber length to allow for this and unforeseen installation obstructions. Trim back excess length in the field. Field verification of lengths is recommended prior to final order.
  3. Use only recommended products and procedures for splicing harness lead fiber(s) to the installed optical fiber. Please refer to Splice Kit/Splicing in Optical Fiber section for details.
  4. Splices should only be done at 1' (25.4mm) minimum straight run areas of the optical fiber. To avoid light being seen at the splice, wrap outside of splice sleeve first with white electrical tape (or heat shrink), then with black electrical tape (or heat shrink).
  5. When no splice is required, indicate on order work sheet under Model Number of "Splice To" Fiber as Continuous (See example above).
